Artifact 1 | Digital Image Capture
Project Description: In INSC 562: digital curation, I digitized two document types, a newspaper clipping and a black and white photograph. This was done following standards and conventions in the Cornell University Library’s Moving Theory into Practice: Digital Imaging Tutorial. I prepared a report based on my experience completing the digital image capture assignment The picture and newspaper clipping scanned and edited for the project are pictured right.
This project provided me the opportunity to experiment with creating digitized surrogates of non-digital objects based on good practice guidelines. I also gained hands-on experience manipulating images with Adobe Photoshop, practicing proper file naming, and choosing the best file format when creating a digital surrogate.
